We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Level 2 SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our client schools in Coventry, West Midlands.

The Role:
As a Level 2 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people aged 11-16 with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and other additional needs that may present challenging behaviours. This role is ideal for an individual who is committed to making a positive impact on pupils' learning and development in a supportive and inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with SEMH, ASD, and challenging behaviours.
  • Assist the classroom teacher in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Foster a safe, positive, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Support the social and emotional development of pupils, encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in lessons.
  • Work both 1:1 and in small groups, adapting resources and approaches to meet the needs of individual learners.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH, ASD, or additional needs that may involve challenging behaviours.
  • A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of SEN and strategies for supporting students with complex needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting the holistic development of pupils.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and take initiative when required.
