Job Title: Process Engineer
Location: Northumberland
Salary: Competitive depending on experience

Working Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (early Friday finish)

As a Process Engineer, you will play a vital role in developing and optimising manufacturing processes for high-precision microelectronic products. This varied position offers exposure to the entire product lifecycle—from new product introduction (NPI) to supporting volume production. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless process transitions, troubleshoot issues, and drive performance improvements across the shop floor.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing day-to-day engineering support to production operations
  • Troubleshooting and resolving equipment and process-related issues
  • Commissioning and qualifying new manufacturing equipment
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation such as SOPs, PFMEAs, and inspection standards
  • Supporting the transition of products from NPI to full-scale production
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities for yield improvement and efficiency gains
  • Liaising with customers and suppliers, which may include occasional travel abroad
  • Promoting a safety-first culture and ensuring compliance with HSE regulations

Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  • Degree/HNC in Engineering or relevant equivalent experience
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience with Lean principles, 8D, and Design of Experiments
  • Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to strict deadlines
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with electronics and mechanical CAD tools
  • Experience with chip and wire assembly, hybrid circuits, or high-reliability environments (e.g. MIL standards)
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing tools and statistical process controls
