We're currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a skilled and experienced professional to take charge of day-to-day workshop operations. In this role, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the repair, maintenance, and compliance of a small fleet of tipper and hydraulic crane lorries, ensuring all vehicles are safe, roadworthy, and operating efficiently. It's a hands-on position that plays a key role in supporting the wider transport and logistics function.

About the role

  • Oversee repairs and maintenance of a small fleet of tipper and hydraulic crane lorries
  • Manage compliance processes including PMI inspections, MOTs, tacho checks, and defect reports
  • Respond to vehicle breakdowns and call-outs, ensuring minimal downtime
  • Carry out mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic diagnostics and repairs (including welding/fabrication)
  • Supervise workshop operations, maintain accurate records, and support transport compliance

About you

  • Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of vehicle systems
  • Proficient in diagnosing and repairing electrical, hydraulic and mechanical issues
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Welding and fabrication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and management skills
  • Current Class 1 and 2 driving licence
  • Proficient use of Microsoft applications
  • Previous experience of managing a workshop is essentials
