We're currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a skilled and experienced professional to take charge of day-to-day workshop operations. In this role, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the repair, maintenance, and compliance of a small fleet of tipper and hydraulic crane lorries, ensuring all vehicles are safe, roadworthy, and operating efficiently. It's a hands-on position that plays a key role in supporting the wider transport and logistics function.
About the role
- Oversee repairs and maintenance of a small fleet of tipper and hydraulic crane lorries
- Manage compliance processes including PMI inspections, MOTs, tacho checks, and defect reports
- Respond to vehicle breakdowns and call-outs, ensuring minimal downtime
- Carry out mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic diagnostics and repairs (including welding/fabrication)
- Supervise workshop operations, maintain accurate records, and support transport compliance
About you
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of vehicle systems
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing electrical, hydraulic and mechanical issues
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks
- Welding and fabrication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and management skills
- Current Class 1 and 2 driving licence
- Proficient use of Microsoft applications
- Previous experience of managing a workshop is essentials
