Reed Finance are currently assisting a long-established client in the Crawley area who are seeking a Financial Controller to join their team.  Reporting to the Commerical Director as Financial Controller you will be responsible for collaborating with company management to support upper-level decision-making processes. This role is crucial in using financial information to shape business strategy, ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies, and serving as the primary contact for external auditors.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Produce financial reports including Income Statements, Balance Sheets, Cash Flow Statements, sales and margin reports, cost centre analysis, and manufacturing & purchasing variance analysis.
  • Manage cash forecasts, credit control, and debt collection.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor budgets and forecasts.
  • Handle data reconciliation from platforms like Amazon and Shopify.
  • Analyse actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
  • Produce annual statutory accounts and liaise with auditors and tax advisors.
  • Oversee all activities related to regulatory compliance issues (Income Tax, VAT, Payroll, P11D’s, PAYE, Intrastat, WEEE, etc).
  • Conduct balance sheet account reconciliations and review intangible assets.
  • Prepare and submit Patent Box applications.
  • Manage treasury functions and perform bank reconciliations.
  • Produce consolidated accounts for the organisation.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial laws, regulations, and accounting standards.
  • Implement internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
  • Manage the Finance Department, covering Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll/HR, including communication, motivation, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Undertake additional tasks as required by the Directors.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified Accountant with relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated technical ability with strong commercial acumen.
  • Proficient in the use of management information systems, including Sage X3.
  • Ability to manage, motivate, monitor, and control a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the capability to communicate at all levels.
  • Experience with Tax & Transfer Pricing policies is preferred.
