About the Role:Academics Crawley is working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in the Worthing area to recruit a dedicated and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a full-time position starting in September 2025.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and inclusive school environment, where your expertise will play a key role in both classroom support and leading learning activities. The role is well-suited to experienced support staff who are confident delivering lessons, supporting teachers, and helping students to achieve their potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver pre-prepared learning activities under the guidance of teaching staff

  • Provide in-class and small group support across Key Stages 3 and 4

  • Support classroom management and behaviour in line with school policies

  • Act as a point of contact for less experienced support staff and contribute to a collaborative working environment

Requirements:

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience in a higher-level support role

  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to lead whole-class activities when required

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience working in a secondary school setting

  • Experience supporting students with additional learning needs (SEN, EAL, etc.)

  • Interest in progressing into teaching or pastoral leadership
