Pastoral Assistant - Crewe Area - Immediate Start - Long-Term Role

Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them to succeed beyond the classroom?

Academics are looking for a caring and proactive Pastoral Assistant to join a welcoming Secondary School near the Crewe area. This is a long-term role for this Academic Year with an immediate start available. Permanent position is available for the right candidate.

You'll be a key point of contact for students, staff, and parents - helping to promote positive behaviour, wellbeing, and engagement across all year groups.



What you'll do:

  • Support pupils throughout the school day, encouraging positive attitudes and behaviours.
  • Help manage and de-escalate behavioural issues calmly and effectively.
  • Liaise with teachers, pastoral leaders, and parents to ensure every pupil feels supported.
  • Supervise detentions, clubs, and support vulnerable pupils when needed.
  • Act as a friendly, visible presence around school and help create a positive atmosphere.
  • Act as a first aider within school (training provided).

What we're looking for:

  • Previous experience working with young people in a school or support role.
  • Excellent communication and empathy skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and build positive relationships quickly.
  • A proactive, caring attitude and genuine interest in pupil wellbeing.
  • An enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for one (can be processed through Academics).
