About the Role:
As an Engineer specializing in Interior Door Trim, you will play a pivotal role in developing cutting-edge interior door trim systems. Your creativity and technical expertise will be essential in delivering high-quality, aesthetically pleasing designs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design leather-wrapped components using Catia V5 and create detailed drawings.
- Generate and implement innovative concepts to tackle design challenges, collaborating with both internal teams and external design partners.
- Lead project planning and manage activities on a weekly basis to ensure timely delivery.
- Develop design specifications from cascaded requirements to align with project and system objectives.
- Facilitate cross-functional design reviews with internal teams and external partners.
- Manage external design resources to meet cost, quality, and timing targets.
- Support engineering test and validation planning, ensuring all systems and components meet rigorous standards.
- Represent the Body & Trim R&D department in Bentley Group forums, promoting collaboration across the organization.
What You Bring:
- A strong background in automotive design and development.
- Extensive experience using Catia V5 for CAD design, particularly for leather-wrapped components.
- Proven project management skills, including supplier and design partner management.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to guide and engage stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities to address complex engineering and design challenges.
- Exceptional coordination and organizational skills, enabling you to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- A proactive and independent work ethic, balanced with a collaborative team spirit.
Preferred Experience:
- Previous roles within a vehicle OEM's Door Trim System Development or with a Tier 1 Trim supplier with design capabilities.
- Experience in the interior department or with design partners focusing on complex interior systems such as Headliners or Instrument Panels.
- Familiarity with systems engineering V models, financial awareness, and the VW systems and processes.
Qualifications:
- An engineering-based degree in Automotive, Mechanical, or a related field is preferred.
