Travel Required: EU and UK travel required

Working Pattern: Full Time - Hybrid (Minimum 3 days onsite)

Position Overview:
As an Energy Management Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing, integrating, and validating energy management hardware across various projects. You will ensure that systems meet compliance, functional safety, and emission standards while managing hardware components to deliver exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, integrate, validate, and sign off on energy management hardware for all relevant projects.
  • Manage and approve circuit diagrams, supporting the development of functions and networking between ECUs.
  • Troubleshoot vehicle issues using diagnostic skills and provide solutions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Electrical & Electronics, Whole Vehicle, Body & Trim, and Motion Engineering R&D departments to deliver a low voltage system that exceeds customer expectations.
  • Introduce and validate platform changes as needed.
  • Support part introductions, technical changes, and manage low voltage components and associated fixings.
  • Provide vital information on energy management hardware to production, aftersales, logistics, purchasing, and project management teams.
  • Manage suppliers and coordinate with VW group system engineers to ensure fully functional systems for future vehicles.
  • Validate components according to functional sign-off requirements.

What We're Looking For:

  • Component release and change management processes.
  • CAD data and BOM management.
  • Knowledge of vehicle energy management systems, including HV batteries, starter motors, alternators, DC/DC converters, and 12V battery technology.
  • Understanding of medium (48V) and high voltage systems.
  • Familiarity with 12V DC high power systems and vehicle in-circuit resistance.
  • Knowledge of crash/failure modes for power delivery testing.
  • Experience with CAN, Flexray, and LIN bus systems.
  • Proficiency in Vector Tools and vehicle diagnostic tools (ODIS, IDEX) for root cause investigations.
  • Strong electronic/electrical fault finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of software development and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree or Higher Education certificate is preferred.
  • German language skills are a plus!
