Location: Crewe Office
Hours: Full time, 39 hours per week

Salary: £44 - £60K DOE

About the Role:
We’re on the lookout for a talented Senior Design Engineer to join our clients team in Crewe! If you're someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and loves managing a team, this could be the perfect role for you. You’ll be leading a design team, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet all necessary standards and regulations. Using Business Management System (BMS) and Integrated Management System (IMS), you’ll guide the team through design development and make sure everything runs smoothly. Plus, you’ll have the chance to mentor junior team members, sharing your expertise to help them grow.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead the design team to create drawings, risk assessments, design logs, specifications, and other project documents.
  • Conduct site inspections, surveys, and technical reviews to ensure compliance with British and European Standards, Codes of Practice, and Railway Group Standards.
  • Focus on safety, sustainability, and environmental impact in all projects, including pushing forward "Safe by Design" initiatives.
  • Organise and take part in design reviews, keep an eye on project progress, and handle any technical questions from the team or clients.
  • Work closely with other disciplines and external partners to deliver well-coordinated project results.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to clients and project teams and plan out resource needs to keep projects on track.
  • Step into roles like Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) and project manager as needed to ensure everything is delivered on time and on budget.
  • Manage team performance, conduct safety checks, and keep up with your own and your team’s professional development (CPD).
  • Represent them at client meetings and events, making sure all project paperwork is in order and that they're always learning from past projects.
