About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Metrology Dimensional Analysis Engineer to join our team in Crewe, UK. This role focuses on delivering high-quality automotive engineering analysis to support continuous improvement across a diverse vehicle portfolio. You will play a key role in dimensional analysis activities, ensuring alignment with production milestones and maintaining high standards in metrology processes.
Main Goals and Objectives
Deliver automotive engineering analysis to drive consistent quality improvements across vehicle product lines.
Perform Meisterbock, Cubing, and whole vehicle/part dimensional analysis to meet defined metrology process requirements and production milestones.
Oversee all activities within a designated area, including component building, measurement, result interrogation, root cause analysis, and communication of findings.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery: Plan and manage daily project activities for a designated area, report on activity status, collaborate cross-functionally, and work with internal/external suppliers to enhance part and system quality.
Dimensional Measurement: Apply Measurement First Principles, build fixtures/vehicles to specified standards (PDM, AVO, or RPS systems), use measurement equipment to assess parts/subsystems, and produce detailed measurement reports. Identify fitment issues and understand reasons for dimensional deviations.
Problem Analysis: Analyze and manage dimensional/functional issues, provide root cause analysis for simple problems, and compile data-driven analysis reports.
Specialist Knowledge: Stay updated on relevant technology, maintain awareness of relationships with measurement solution partners, and understand broader group processes.
Team Collaboration: Work effectively within a local team, contributing to collective objectives.
Specific Role Information
Assess and evaluate new equipment for departmental use.
Perform daily maintenance of measurement equipment (7 machines) and software (5 systems).

Skills & Experience
Strong communication skills for engaging in departmental forums.
Basic knowledge of problem-solving tools and their application.
Ability to conduct root cause analysis for dimensional deviations in parts, areas, or vehicles.
Measurement skills relevant to assigned parts or zones.
Ability to influence colleagues within your area of responsibility.
Understanding of the Product Emergence Process.
Practical & Technical Knowledge
Working knowledge of optical and tactile metrology equipment.
Familiarity with Reference Points System, Engineering Drawings, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
Basic proficiency in CAD and engineering software, particularly Catia and KVS.
Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Comprehensive knowledge of Polyworks, Powerinspect, and GOMinspect.
Qualifications
HNC in an Engineering discipline or completion of a recognized engineering apprenticeship.
National Physical Laboratory relevant module training or equivalent experience.
