Join our team as a Learning Support Assistant, where you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and personal development of our learners. This position is ideal for someone passionate about facilitating student learning and well-being through dedicated support in various classroom activities.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Work under the guidance of the class tutor to support learners during classroom activities.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support, clarifying instructions, and ensuring learners have and can use necessary equipment and materials.
- Motivate and encourage learners, providing individual attention, reassurance, and help with learning tasks tailored to individual needs.
- Assist in the use of assistive technology to aid learners in their education and independence.
- Monitor learners' responses to activities and adapt them as necessary to achieve learning outcomes.
- Participate in six-weekly learner progress reviews, discussing and setting SMART targets, and evaluating performance.
- Liaise with tutors, the Learning Support Lead, and other professionals to assist with reviewing learner targets and plans.
- Contribute to the assessment of learners to identify developmental needs and design resources to support learning.
- Support the development of independent living skills and assist learners in making informed choices and managing the consequences of their actions.
- Establish supportive relationships focusing on the well-being, emotional, social, and personal development of learners.
- Record and track the progress and achievements of learners.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in a similar role within an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of support and safety plans, and risk assessments.
- Ability to engage effectively with learners, motivating and supporting them in their educational journey.
- Proficient in using educational and assistive technology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with other team members.
- A proactive approach to adapting learning activities based on learner feedback.
