A well-established specialist school in the Crowborough area is seeking a committed and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 7-16 with a range of needs, including autism, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties, and complex learning challenges.

Key Responsibilities for Special Needs Teaching Assistant:

  • Support pupils on a one-to-one or small group basis with both academic and emotional needs

  • Assist teachers in implementing personalised learning strategies and behaviour support plans

  • Encourage pupil engagement, confidence, and independence in a structured and therapeutic setting

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may display challenging behaviour

  • Collaborate with a dedicated team to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment



The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly autism, ADHD, or SEMH needs

  • Be calm, resilient, and supportive, especially when working with challenging behaviour

  • Show strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team

  • Be proactive, adaptable, and committed to the progress and wellbeing of each pupil

  • Hold relevant training or qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, psychology degree, Team Teach) - desirable but not essential
