About the school:
This is an East Sussex County Council maintained special school catering to approximately 155 children aged 4-19 with a variety of complex learning needs, including moderate, severe, or profound and multiple learning difficulties. Some students also have additional physical and/or sensory impairments, including autism.
Each child has an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP), which is tailored to their specific needs and curriculum-based targets. The school is committed to promoting independence and challenging students to achieve their best.
The staff are highly trained to support a wide range of needs, and the school benefits from regular input from Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Occupational Therapists through the Children's Integrated Therapy and Equipment Service (CITEs) within Kent NHS, commissioned by the local authority. Additionally, a Special Schools Nursing Sister from East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is on hand to support the health and wellbeing of the students.
About the role:

Provide one-on-one or small group support for students with special educational needs (SEN)

Assist with the development and delivery of individual learning plans and strategies

Support students in both academic and social settings, promoting independence and confidence

Help students with their personal care needs as required

Foster an inclusive classroom environment by supporting diverse learning styles

Collaborate with teachers and other staff to ensure the best outcomes for students

Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to the teaching team

Assist with classroom management and ensure a positive, respectful atmosphere

Support the use of specialized equipment and resources to aid students' learning

Work closely with parents and outside agencies to ensure holistic support for students
