Behaviour Specialist - Secondary Special Needs School

The Role

Tempest is collaborating with a Secondary Special Needs school in Croydon, offering a rewarding opportunity for an individual with experience or a keen interest in working within a pastoral team for students with Autism and/or complex needs.

As a Behaviour Specialist, you will conduct Functional Behaviour Assessments, and develop and implement comprehensive, individualised Positive Behaviour Support Plans. You will be an integral part of the school's pastoral team, which includes family liaison and support, safeguarding, and complementary therapies. Additionally, you will collaborate with the in-house therapy team, including Speech and Language and Occupational Therapy.

You will manage a caseload of students and work closely with the class team, supported by the Behaviour and Pastoral Support Officer, to train staff in implementing Behaviour Support Plans.

Your role will also involve contributing to the wider strategic management of behaviour across the school. This includes working alongside the Head of Pastoral Care to analyse and report on whole-school behaviour, and participating in the design of policies and training packages, including outreach programs.

Requirements

  • Experience in SEN education or residential provision.
  • Strong behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of an experienced team, with support for professional development.
