The London Fire Brigade (LFB) are seeking a Protective Equipment Group (PEG) Technician to join the Brigade's Operations Support Group (OSG) at our facility in Croydon on a three-month temporary basis. This role is ideal for individuals with a technical background in engineering, servicing, and maintenance of equipment. The primary responsibility will be the modification of head harnesses used for respiratory face masks, alongside other technical and administrative duties.

Day-to-Day of the Role:

  • Modification of Equipment: Undertake the modification of rubber head harnesses by attaching the required buckles and other components.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Charge and maintain compressed air cylinders and other OSG equipment, ensuring adherence to current procedures and legislation.
  • Transport and Handling: Move, transport, and carry equipment within the Greater London area as required.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain and update both manual and computerised records relating to equipment and stores.
  • Data Entry: Use computerised systems for inputting and retrieving information, and managing email communications.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Technical background, preferably in engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in servicing and maintenance of technical equipment.
  • Proficient in using computerised systems for data entry and information retrieval.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving license is essential.
