The Company:With the company's success continuing to grow steadily, they are looking at expanding the work force on site in order to maintain production levels. They are a market leader within the energy to waste process ndustry and are looking forward to another successful year within this marketplace. The business has shown consistent growth and is constantly developing new systems to maintain their competitive advantage in existing markets. The successful Health and Safety Manager will receive support and development to achieve and maintain excellent Health and Safety standards within the business.

The Role:

  1. Develop, maintain, and monitor local EHS & Fire policies, systems, and procedures to meet legislative and operational requirements.
  1. Ensure that departmental risk assessments, environmental impact assessments and fire inspections are conducted by line management and followed up by corrective action. To ensure that all specialist environmental, health and safety hazards are assessed and managed effectively (e.g. COSHH, Noise, Emissions etc). To ensure adequate provision of EHS & Fire training and toolbox talks for all employees.
  1. To advise the site and departmental management on current and anticipated developments on EHS and Fire legislation and to set internal standards to comply. To identify and report any perceived gaps in EHS & Fire legal compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  1. To assist in developing EHS and Fire standards, good practices and implement, audit processes providing information and reports for these along with other reports as appropriate.
  1. Maintain the EHS Manuals, processes, procedures and supporting documentation and records along with ISO45001. ISO14001 and PEFC certifications. Maintain the site fire safety plan and fire logbook.
  1. Ensure that all accidental injuries, dangerous occurrences, environmental incidents and fire incidents are investigated thoroughly, and that action is taken to avoid reoccurrence.
  1. Track site progress and monitor the Health, Safety & Environmental Action Plans, communicate on this and incident details, statistics and trends, produce regular reports for site management and provided occasional subject updates.
  1. To set EHS and Fire safety objectives and accountabilities for the management team in line with site objectives and targets.
  1. To build and maintain environmental testing suite and protocols in anticipation of future permitting regulations.

Requirements:

  • Health and Safety Management experience
  • Worked within industrial manufacturing i.e. heavy industry, energy from waste
  • NEBOSH Certificate/Diploma or equivalent
  • LOLER and RAMs understanding
  • Proven experience of a HSQE Manager in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Proven experience in driving changes and improvements
