Job Title: Indirect Tax (VAT) Specialist
Location: East Croydon, CR0 2LX (Parking on site included)
Salary: £40,000 £70,000 per annum (dependent on skills, knowledge, and experience)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am 5:00 pm (office-based, no remote or after-hours work)
We are seeking an experienced Indirect Tax (VAT) Specialist to join our Top 100 UK accountancy firm. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years practice experience specialising in VAT matters, particularly in liaising with HMRC.
This role is predominantly focused on VAT advisory and compliance support. You will not be required to process VAT returns, as these are completed by our back-office team in India. Instead, your responsibilities will include:
Managing VAT-related communications and queries with HMRC, with full support from our back-office team
Meeting with and advising clients via phone and email, handling VAT-related matters for a diverse portfolio of mainly small to medium-sized businesses
Collaborating daily with our offshore back office team to ensure smooth operations and clear communication
Preparing daily reports and maintaining accurate records of client interactions and issues
Our clients include a range of high street and small business sectors such as:
Chemists, Newsagents, Retail Shops, Restaurants, Hairdressers
Tradespeople including electricians, plumbers, and contractors
Businesses with turnover ranging from £100K to £1M
Basic knowledge of Income Tax and PAYE is also beneficial to support wider client needs.
