This Teaching Assistant role focuses on providing 1:1 support to a Year 2 student with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

You will help them access the curriculum and develop crucial social and emotional skills within a nurturing Early Years setting, contributing to a diverse and ambitious school community. This is an excellent SEMH Teaching Assistant role for the right person.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored 1:1 emotional and behavioural support, building a strong rapport.
  • Implement and adapt learning activities to aid curriculum access and emotional growth for SEMH learners.
  • Collaborate with the teacher and SENDCo on student progress and support strategies.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment for the student's SEMH requirements.

What We're Looking For

  • Qualifications: A relevant Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) is advantageous for this Teaching Assistant vacancy.
  • Experience: Proven experience working with children with SEMH, complex needs, or SEND (Special Educational Needs). Early Years experience is beneficial.
  • Soft Skills: Empathy, patience, resilience, strong communication, and ability to connect with young learners.
