Are you an enthusiastic, nurturing SEMH Teaching Assistant ready to make a significant impact on primary children in Croydon?

Join a highly-regarded, thriving primary school dedicated to inclusion and student well-being. This is an immediate, long-term placement with a strong view to a secured permanent role directly with the school.

You will provide crucial 1:1 support to primary-aged pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs (Key Stage 1/2) within a mainstream setting. You will collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and pastoral staff to deliver a tailored, supportive curriculum.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted 1:1 support aligned with the pupil's SEMH plan, focusing on managing anxiety and emotional regulation.

  • Facilitate positive engagement, adapting tasks to meet the pupil's individual pace.

  • Effectively implement established behaviour management strategies (e.g., 'Zones of Regulation') consistently.

  • Maintain clear communication with staff and parents/carers regarding progress.



Essential Criteria:

  • Proven experience supporting primary-aged children with social, emotional, or mental health needs.

  • A calm, resilient, and proactive disposition when managing challenging behaviours.

  • Familiarity with successful SEMH support methodologies, such as emotional literacy or Nurture Group principles.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
