We are supporting a Croydon based special school with their search forĀ a dedicated Occupational Therapist to provide a high standard of service to children aged 4-11 years within a respected educational institution. This role involves contributing to the planning, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of the Children’s Occupational Therapy Service, focusing on family-centred, occupationally focused assessments and interventions.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide family-centred, occupationally focused assessment and intervention to children with additional needs.
  • Manage a defined caseload of children, working autonomously with access to supervision.
  • Develop and implement therapy tools and resources as requested.
  • Deliver training to families and education staff.
  • Write, plan, and implement advice, EHCPS, and therapy programmes to support children’s learning and development.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary assessment and intervention.
  • Select and apply appropriate Occupational Therapy assessments for children.
  • Plan and implement individual and/or group interventions in collaboration with the child/carer.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and modify interventions using appropriate outcome measures.
  • Manage clinical risk within own clinical caseload.
  • Assist in the supervision and training of students and junior staff as required.
  • Participate in operational planning and policy and service development within the team.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy and registration with the relevant professional body.
  • Demonstrated experience in paediatric Occupational Therapy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with children, families, and educational staff.
  • Knowledge of current research, clinical reasoning skills, and evidence-based practice.
  • Competence in managing a caseload effectively regarding clinical priorities and use of time.
