Track Technician   Job Description

Location: England, Greater London, Croydon

Job Type: Contract, Full-Time hours

Primary Industry: Rail

Secondary Industry: Engineering

Salary: £21 - £23 Per hour

  Job Duties:
  • Inspect and maintain railway tracks, ensuring they are safe for train operations
  • Repair and replace damaged track components
  • Use specialised equipment for track maintenance and repairs
  • Follow safety procedures and regulations while working on tracks
  • Assist in track construction and improvement projects
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience working in the rail industry
  Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Additional vocational training in track maintenance is desirable
  Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in railway track maintenance
  • Hands-on experience with track inspection and repair
  Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of track maintenance procedures and best practises
  • Proficiency in using track maintenance equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skill

Knowledge of the below is desirable

  • Experience of track patrolling
  • Experience with vossloh track fixing systems
  • Small tools and plant tickets
  • S&C inspections
  • General track maintenance activities
  • Track renewals activities
  • Lubricator maintenance 

 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in railway safety regulations
  • Previous experience working on electrified tracks
  Working Conditions:
  • Work in outdoor environments along railway tracks
  • Possibility of working night shifts and weekends
  • Physical demands including lifting and bending
