Are you a Chef seeking an exciting short-term Sous Chef opportunity in the stunning location of Helston? Join the team at a fantastic hotel and contribute to high food standards while enjoying the Cornish coast. This is a great chance to gain experience and explore a beautiful part of the country!

As our Sous Chef in Helston for 6 months, you'll play a key role in maintaining excellent foodservice and food production. You'll help prepare rotas, deliver a suitable menu within budget, and train staff on creating varied dishes. This is a hands-on Chef position where you'll ensure a safe and customer-focused kitchen environment.

As a Chef your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining high foodservice and food production standards.
  • Assisting with rota preparation, considering business trends and wage budgets.
  • Helping to deliver a menu that meets operational requirements and budget.
  • Developing and training staff on a varied a la carte menu.
  • Promoting and ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Being customer service oriented and encouraging guest feedback.
  • Monitoring and recording wastage and breakages.
  • Developing positive working relationships with all teams.
  • Achieving high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.
  • Assisting with food cost targets and monthly stock takes.
  • Taking charge of the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
  • Covering and assisting any kitchen section.
  • Assisting with food ordering, stock control, and rotation.
  • Providing support and training to all kitchen sections.
  • Assisting with recruitment and induction of new staff.
