About the Role:

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support key projects within the Thames Valley region. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in the UK water sector, specifically within Water Services frameworks, and a solid understanding of the Asset Management Planning (AMP) cycle. Holding valid EUSR cards and experience working on clean and wastewater infrastructure is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver mechanical engineering input across feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning phases of water and wastewater projects.
  • Support AMP project delivery (AMP7/AMP8) in line with client and regulatory expectations.
  • Carry out condition surveys, feasibility studies, asset replacement, and upgrade design.
  • Ensure adherence to the standards, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, electrical, and process engineers.
  • Produce technical documentation including drawings, specifications, schedules, and reports.
  • Review contractor submissions and assist with procurement of mechanical equipment.
  • Attend site meetings, undertake inspections and liaise with site teams during construction.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM, H&S legislation, and environmental standards.
  • Contribute to value engineering and carbon reduction initiatives.

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent); chartered or working toward chartership (IMechE or equivalent) preferred.
  • Proven experience on water industry projects.
  • Understanding of AMP cycles and the water industry regulatory landscape (e.g., Ofwat).
  • Valid EUSR cards (e.g., National Water Hygiene, SHEA Water).
  • Strong understanding of clean and wastewater mechanical assets (e.g., pumps, pipework, valves, screens, tanks).
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design software.
  • Working knowledge of relevant British and European standards.

Desirable:

  • Water Services Passport / TW security clearance.
  • Experience with NEC3/NEC4 contracts.
  • Familiarity with digital asset management, BIM, or 3D modelling tools (e.g., Revit).
  • Confined Space and/or First Aid certification.
