SEND Teaching Assistant - Primary School in Barking and Dagenham - SEPTEMBER start

I am currently working with a lovely school in Barking and Dagenham who are looking to appoint 2 new SEND Teaching Assistants to start in September 2025. This will be a fixed 1 year contract from September 2025 to July 2026 initially.

About the role:

The needs of the pupils they cater for range from:

  • ASC (verbal and non-verbal)

  • Learning difficulties

  • Speech, Language and Communication needs

  • Complex needs

We welcome applicants with a good understanding of working with students with severe Autism and profound, multiple learning difficulties and are enthusiastic about raising the attainment of their pupils. You MUST have previous experience working 121 with children with severe Autism and be comfortable providing intimate care (including nappy changing and toileting).You will have experience in supporting children with special educational needs and have knowledge of communicating with non-verbal children using either Makaton or PECS.

Ideal candidate:
  • Experience using Makaton or PECS
  • Ability to provide intimate care (including nappy changing and toileting)
  • Previous experience working with children with severe Autism
  • Experience working with non-verbal children or those with Speech and Language difficulties
