About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join the team for a major hydropower project. In this role, you will be responsible for the disassembly, installation, and maintenance of turbines and generators, including the use of hydraulic tensioners, torque tools, and abrasive wheels. You will also troubleshoot, repair, and commission machinery, ensuring all tasks are completed to high safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use and maintain various mechanical tools and devices.
  • Disassemble, install, and assemble turbines and generator components.
  • Read and interpret manufacturing and assembly drawings.
  • Basic electrical skills and machine installation experience.
  • Adhere to all safety and health regulations.

Pay & Benefits:

  • £20.20 per hour (Days), £26 per hour (Nights)
  • Accommodation paid for on- site or £350 per week accommodation allowance (depending on location)
  • £25/day food allowance.
  • Travel covered at the start and end of the project.
  • 38 hours standard + overtime (expected 50 hours per week on project)
  • Overtime paid at an additional higher rate
  • Standard holiday allowance + bank holidays (prorated for during of contract)

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a mechanical fitter in turbine or generator maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • H&S qualification/NEBOSH
  • Level 3 Qualification (e.g. Recognised Training Scheme or Apprenticeship) appropriate to Mechanical Engineering
