Location: North Scotland (Cruachan Power Station, Dalmally)
Contract Duration: 6 Months (possible extension likely for another 6 months +)
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Rigger to join the team for a major hydropower project. In this role, you will be responsible for the disassembly, installation, and maintenance of turbines and generators, including the use of hydraulic tensioners, torque tools, and abrasive wheels. You will also support and carry out rigging operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform load assessments and determine appropriate rigging methods based on weight, shape, and lift points.
- Signal and direct crane or lifting operations using hand signals or radio communication in coordination with lifting teams.
- Use and maintain a range of mechanical tools and equipment, including hydraulic tensioners, torque tools, and abrasive wheels.
- Identify and resolve mechanical faults to restore equipment to working condition.
- Interpret and follow engineering drawings, lifting plans, and assembly instructions.
Pay & Benefits:
- 22.20 base rate, overtime at 28.86 (T1.3x) after 38 hours ( 60 Hours per week)
- Accommodation paid for on-site
- 25/day food allowance.
- Travel is covered at the start and end of the project.
- Overtime paid at a higher rate
- Standard holiday allowance + bank holidays (prorated for duration of contract)
Requirements:
Essential:
- NVQ Level 3 in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Installation, or equivalent
- ECITB Level 2 or Level 3 Rigger certification (or equivalent)
- CSCS card (or equivalent safety certification)
Desirable:
- MJI certification (Mechanical Joint Integrity)
- Experience with turbines, generators, or hydro-related equipment
- Confined space or working at height experience
