BMSL require an experienced Project Engineer with a Process Piping background for a long-term contract in Ayrshire.
Overview
The Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing the delivery of all piping-related work packages on the project, ensuring that engineering, installation, quality and safety requirements are carried out in accordance with project specifications, schedule and company standards. The role acts as the link between engineering, construction, planning, procurement and subcontractors to ensure coordinated and efficient execution of the piping scope.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Engineering
- Review piping drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, datasheets, specifications and method statements.
- Provide technical support and clarification to site teams and subcontractors.
- Ensure materials, equipment and fabrication comply with project design requirements and applicable standards.
- Coordinate and resolve technical queries (RFI/TQ) with design engineers and client representatives.
Planning & Coordination
- Work closely with Planning Engineer to ensure plan is being followed out on site
- Work closely with internal and client teams to ensure work areas are ready in accordance with plan
- Identify Temporary Works requirements for work areas for access (scaffolding)
- Support development of workface planning and construction sequencing.
- Monitor progress of piping installation works and identify issues early.
- Work wither Planning Engineer and carry out look aheads / readiness reviews for upcoming areas of work.
- Coordinate with Procurement to ensure timely delivery of piping materials and spools.
- Work closely with Mechanical Supervisors, Welders, Pipefitters, Platers and QA/QC teams to maintain productivity.
Quality & Compliance
- Participate in inspections, walkdowns, sign-offs and system handover documentation.
Commercial
- Work closely with Project Director and Commercial Manager to identify risks, raise EWN’s, identify opportunities for CE’s.
- Work with Planning Engineer and Commercial Manager to identify delays so that a time and cost impact can be identified.
Communication & Reporting
- Act as the interface between engineering, site execution teams and the client.
- Attend coordination meetings and contribute to upcoming work planning.
- Report progress, risks and constraints to the Project Director in a timely manner.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree/HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline (desirable)
- Experience in piping or mechanical engineering on construction or industrial projects.
- Strong understanding of piping systems and isometric interpretation
- Familiarity with standards such as ASME, EN, PED, BS, ISO or equivalent.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and managing work packages.
