The Role: Accounts Senior

This is a key role within the accounts team, focused on the preparation of year-end accounts and tax returns for a wide range of clients. You will manage your own portfolio, liaise directly with clients, and work closely with managers and junior team members.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in public practice and prior experience as a sole trader or in a self-employed capacity this is essential for the role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare statutory year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies

  • Complete both personal and corporate tax returns

  • Liaise directly with clients, providing advice and maintaining strong relationships

  • Review bookkeeping and VAT returns as required

  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of work

  • Provide guidance and support to junior colleagues

  • Contribute to maintaining the firms high standard of service and client care

Requirements
  • Private practice experience is essential

  • Must have worked as a sole trader or in a self-employed capacity

  • ACA/ACCA qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience

  • Strong skills in accounts and tax return preparation for varied clients

  • Proficient in cloud-based accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks)

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Professional, proactive, and detail-oriented
