A well-established and growing accountancy practice in Darlington is seeking an experienced Accounts Senior to join their team. The firm serves a diverse client base including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies offering a full range of services across accounts, tax, and advisory.

The Role: Accounts SeniorThis is a key role within the accounts team, focused on the preparation of year-end accounts and tax returns for a wide range of clients. You will manage your own portfolio, liaise directly with clients, and work closely with managers and junior team members.
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in public practice and prior experience as a sole trader or in a self-employed capacity this is essential for the role.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare statutory year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
Complete both personal and corporate tax returns
Liaise directly with clients, providing advice and maintaining strong relationships
Review bookkeeping and VAT returns as required
Ensure accurate and timely completion of work
Provide guidance and support to junior colleagues
Contribute to maintaining the firms high standard of service and client care
Private practice experience is essential
Must have worked as a sole trader or in a self-employed capacity
ACA/ACCA qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience
Strong skills in accounts and tax return preparation for varied clients
Proficient in cloud-based accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks)
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
