Role : Full Time

Darlington Borough Council's Looked After Children Team is seeking a dedicated and experienced Children's Social Worker to join our team. We are committed to providing high-quality support and advocacy for children in care, ensuring their safety, well-being, and positive outcomes.

About the Role and Responsibilities:

  • Direct Support and Advocacy: Provide direct support and advocacy to children in care, ensuring their needs are met and they have access to the best possible care and support.
  • Care Planning: Work collaboratively with children, their families, foster carers, and other professionals to create individualised care plans.
  • Child-Centered Approach: Maintain a child-centered approach, ensuring children's voices are heard and their rights are respected.
  • Building Positive Relationships: Promote positive relationships and build trust and stability for children in care.
  • Supporting Children's Potential: Support children in care to achieve their full potential, by facilitating access to educational, social, and personal development opportunities.
  • Caseload Management: Manage a caseload of children in care, ensuring their needs are met and they receive appropriate support.
  • Collaboration with Agencies: Work closely with families, children, foster carers, and other agencies, such as schools and health services, to deliver effective and timely interventions.
  • Accurate Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records and documentation, adhering to relevant legislation and guidelines.
  • Team Contribution: Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the team's service delivery.
  • Advocacy: Represent the needs of children in care, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are protected.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, BA Hons in Social Work, or equivalent).
  • Social Care England registration.
  • Updated DBS check.
  • Experience working with looked after children and their families.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance related to supporting children in care.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with children, families, and other professionals.
  • Commitment to supporting children in care to achieve their full potential and live fulfilling lives.
