Job Title: Social Worker - Safeguarding Assessment TeamLocation: Darlington Borough CouncilDo you want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable adults?Darlington Borough Council's Safeguarding Assessment Team is seeking a skilled and compassionate Social Worker to join our service. You will play a key role in assessing and safeguarding adults at risk, ensuring they receive the support and protection they need to live safe, independent lives.About the RoleAs a Social Worker in the Safeguarding Adults team, your responsibilities will include:Conducting safeguarding assessments: You will identify risk factors, vulnerabilities, and support needs, working closely with service users, families, carers, and multi-agency partners.Developing and implementing protection plans: Collaborate with stakeholders to create clear, goal-oriented plans to address identified risks and support wellbeing.Undertaking Mental Capacity and Best Interest assessments: Ensure decisions are made lawfully and in the best interest of adults lacking capacity.Recording and reporting: Maintain high-quality, accurate, and timely records in line with the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and council policy.Multi-agency working: Participate in safeguarding enquiries and strategy meetings with partners including health, police, and housing.Promoting rights and advocacy: Champion the rights of adults at risk, ensuring their voices are central to safeguarding decisions.Who We're Looking ForWe're seeking a highly motivated and experienced Social Worker with a strong understanding of adult safeguarding legislation and practice.

You will have:

  • A recognised social work qualification (e.g., DipSW, CQSW, BSC Social Work)
  • A valid Social Work England registration
  • Experience in working with children in care, including experience in care planning and reviews.
  • Experience in working with foster families is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with diverse individuals.
  • A deep understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and safeguarding procedures.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children.
