About the Role

A leading emissions technology manufacturer in Darlington is ramping up production and currently seeking three experienced welders to join the team on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled professionals looking to contribute to a high-performance production environment and demonstrate their capabilities in a fast-paced, technically focused setting.



Shift Details

  • Shift 1: Monday - Friday | 6:00am - 2:00pm

  • Shift 2: Monday - Thursday | 2:00pm - 11:30pm (Fridays off)

  • Weekend overtime available when required

  • Please note: nightshift support is not currently required but may be introduced in the future.



Key Responsibilities

  • Weld and assemble component parts for exhaust systems to precise specifications

  • Follow detailed work instructions and production schedules to meet quality standards

  • Ensure adherence to health and safety procedures and participate in continuous improvement initiatives

  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments (e.g. Quality, Engineering, Materials)

  • Maintain a clean and efficient working environment and report any defects or issues to the supervisor



Required Skills & Experience

  • MIG welding experience is essential (TIG also considered)

  • Ability to weld to automotive quality standards (2-3mm)

  • Previous experience in a general manufacturing or sheet metal environment

  • Automotive sector experience is a plus, but not essential



Qualifications

We welcome applications from candidates with any of the following:

  • ABC Certificate Level 1, 2 or 3 in Fabrication & Welding Practice

  • City & Guilds in Welding Skills

  • BTEC or NVQ in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Fabrication & Welding

  • A time-served apprenticeship in a manufacturing environment

  • Proven hands-on welding experience in a production setting



Interview Process

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an on-site welding test and interview (approx. 2 hours total). The welding test is a mandatory requirement for this position.
