The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s financial systems for the future.
As the Financial Controller, you will take ownership of financial operations, reporting, and controls, ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely, and meaningful financial information to support business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver accurate and timely financial and management reports.
- Support senior management in making informed business decisions.
- Lead the implementation and integration of new accounting software.
- Maintain robust financial controls across expenditure, invoicing, payments, and cash management.
- Produce monthly management accounts and performance insights.
- Oversee debtor and creditor management to ensure effective cash flow.
- Manage payroll, VAT, CIS returns, and other statutory financial requirements.
- Support job costing processes and assist project teams with financial data.
- Prepare rolling cash flow forecasts and assist with board reporting.
- Liaise with external auditors, IT teams, and software providers.
About You
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller (or similar) within the construction sector.
- Track record of accounting software implementation and process improvement.
- Strong working knowledge of ledgers and financial systems.
- AAT qualified (or equivalent professional qualification).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a comparable role.
- Advanced user of accounting packages and Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Methodical, detail-oriented, and proactive problem solver.
- A confident communicator who inspires trust and collaboration.
