Compliance Engineer

Location: Dartford
Hours: 37.5 per week
Salary: £45K-£52K + 26 Hols, Medical, Pension

An established and global engineering business within the industrial cooling, refrigeration, and HVAC sector is seeking an experienced Compliance Engineer to oversee compliance across a diverse range of products and systems. You’ll play a key role in ensuring equipment meets all relevant regulatory, safety, and certification standards.

This is a great opportunity for someone seeking long-term stability, exposure to complex engineered products, and a high level of responsibility within a technical environment — ideally with a background in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Compliance or Technical Documentation role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all products placed on the market meet applicable regulations, including CE/UKCA requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain engineering compliance programmes.
  • Produce and review compliance documentation, technical files, and declarations.
  • Collaborate with design, product development, and project teams to ensure compliance pathways are followed.
  • Identify and resolve engineering non-compliance issues and drive continuous improvements.
  • Research and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant standards and directives.
  • Manage design risk assessment templates and maintain a compliance database.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and internal teams on compliance matters.

About You

  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Production, Chemical, or similar) or equivalent experience.
  • 5–10 years’ post-graduate experience.
  • Strong knowledge of pressure vessels and pressure systems (essential).
  • Understanding of compressors, pumps, or refrigeration systems (advantage).
  • Solid working knowledge of CE/UKCA, Machinery Safety, Low Voltage, EMC, Pressure Equipment, ATEX, and Ecodesign regulations.
  • Familiarity with user requirements such as PSSR, DSEAR, and PUWER (advantage).
  • Skilled in process improvement, documentation, and quality standards.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and project management abilities.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Additional languages (Spanish, Italian, Mandarin) are a bonus.
