Freight Forwarder

Job Summary:

Our client is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Logistics Operations Specialist to oversee air import, air export, and road transport operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth movement of goods across international and domestic supply chains, coordinating shipments, managing documentation, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Air Imports:

  • Coordinate inbound air freight shipments from international suppliers.
  • Liaise with airlines, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure timely clearance and delivery.
  • Process and verify import documentation, including airway bills and customs declarations.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and customs requirements.
  • Track shipments and provide status updates to clients and internal teams.
  • Negotiate rates with airlines and freight forwarders to optimize costs.
  • Analyise freight charges, fuel surcharges, and handling fees to ensure cost efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for route optimisation and consolidation to reduce expenses.

Air Exports:

  • Manage outbound air freight shipments, ensuring timely dispatch and delivery.
  • Book cargo space with airlines and coordinate with freight forwarders.
  • Prepare and review export documentation, including bills of lading and export permits.
  • Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations and export control laws.
  • Communicate with clients regarding shipment schedules and requirements.
  • Arrange inbound air freight shipments from international suppliers.
  • Select appropriate carriers based on cost, transit time, and reliability.
  • Ensure timely booking and space allocation with airlines.

Road Transport Operations:

  • Plan and coordinate international road transport logistics.
  • Work with carriers and transport providers to optimize delivery schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with road transport regulations and safety standards.
  • Monitor vehicle tracking systems and optimize routes for efficiency.
  • Address any transport-related issues, delays, or customer concerns.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • 2+ UK years of experience in air freight and road transport operations.
  • Strong knowledge of customs regulations, import/export documentation, and freight forwarding.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and tracking systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
