Job Title: Forman's Assistant / Machine Operator
Location: Dartford, Kent
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 45.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday - no weekends)
Salary: Starting from 29,575 per annum
About the Role:
We are seeking a hands-on and reliable Forman's Assistant / Machine Operator to join our fast-paced workshop in Dartford. This is a full-time, permanent position ideal for someone practical, physically fit, and willing to learn. The role is primarily to support the Forman in the day-to-day operations of the facility, with some responsibilities involving machine operation (training provided).
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the right-hand to the Forman, supporting across multiple departments.
Assist with machine operations (e.g., laser, press brake, waterjet - full training provided).
Pick, pack, load and unload goods, and manage collections and deliveries.
Carry out local deliveries using company vehicles.
Maintain workshop stock control and support general site organisation.
Communicate effectively with both office and workshop staff.
Participate in company-wide projects and equipment moves as required.
Requirements:
Full UK driving license (ideally over 25 years old for insurance purposes, not essential).
Forklift driving ability is preferred (license ideal but not essential).
Physically fit - capable of handling loads up to 25kg with appropriate equipment.
Good spoken and written English.
Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently under pressure.
Punctual, reliable, and a positive team player.
Working Hours: 45.5 hours per week
3 Days: 6:00am - 4:00pm
1 Day: 7:30am - 5:30pm
Fridays: 6:00am - 2:00pm
Paid morning and afternoon coffee breaks, plus 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
