This is a fantastic opportunity to join a global company that is expanding into a brand-new site towards the end of the year. My client is currently seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join their maintenance team of around 10 engineers, supporting the smooth and efficient running of their manufacturing operations.


Skills & Experience:

Essential:

City & Guilds or NVQ qualification in a relevant mechanical maintenance discipline

Time-served apprenticeship in an industrial environment

Minimum of three years experience in a mechanical maintenance role

Proven experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, sensors and control systems

Confident working independently with minimal supervision

Desirable:

Degree in a related field

Working knowledge of construction fixings

Experience in supervisory or planning roles

Understanding of Lean manufacturing and 5S principles

Familiarity with COSHH and H&S controls

Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability

Good communication skills

Experience using AutoCAD

Competent with computer-based maintenance systems

Role Overview:

In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of a wide variety of sheet metal working machinery and associated equipment.

You will undertake hydraulic and mechanical fault finding, repairs and installations, ensuring minimal production downtime and full compliance with health and safety standards.

You will also assist in general site maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to a safe, clean and productive working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

You will be required to maintain and repair all production machinery in line with business priorities, and effectively carry out maintenance tasks to reduce downtime.

This includes recording all activities through internal systems, identifying and sourcing spare parts, and installing new equipment when needed.

You will perform general maintenance across the facility including buildings, fixtures, racking and support equipment.

The role requires compliance with health and safety policies, safe working procedures and active participation in audits and improvement projects.

You must be able to identify unsafe equipment, shut down machinery as necessary and promptly report any incidents or near misses.

Flexibility to undertake other duties as needed, following training, is also expected.
