PAYROLL ASSISTANT

UXBRIDGE

SALARY UP TO £35,000 DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE

Our client is a leading supplier of rail infrastructure including Civil Engineering, Communications, Permanent Way, alongside Civil Engineering & Building projects with the Rail sector.  They now require a Payroll Assistant to join their team based in Uxbridge.

Job Purpose:

To ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees, maintaining compliance with statutory regulations and internal policies, and providing support for payroll-related queries and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process end-to-end payroll for Fortnightly paid employees.
  • Process Fortnightly labour subcontract and agency operatives.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure data accuracy in HR and payroll systems.
  • Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions (e.g., pensions, taxes, benefits).
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC and other statutory requirements.
  • Liaise with HR and Finance teams to ensure accurate employee data and cost allocations.
  • Respond to employee payroll queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support audits and provide documentation as required.
  • Keep up to date with changes in payroll legislation and best practices.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a payroll administration role.
  • Knowledge of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Sage, ADP, Xero, or similar).
  • Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

  • CIPP qualification or working towards it.
  • Familiarity with pension schemes and benefits administration.
