We're excited to be recruiting for a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Accounts Payable professional to join a well-established, high-growth retail business based in Derby. The company have been going through consistent growth over the past few years which has opened up some really exciting progression opportunities internally. AS a result, the Accounts Payable team are needing some new people to join and help with the increasing workload and volumes. As mentioned the growth the business have gone through show that this business appreciate their own people and if you are someone who is looking to grow in their career, this is very much a position that you can start at a transactional level in and grow in.

This role will be working as part of a fast-paced, forwarding thinking finance team where you really get to get your fingers in all the pies and gain exposure to a variety of areas in the business - allowing you to have a real impact! This position is a hybrid role where the business are in the office only 2 days per week, so if you are someone who is looking to further develop your finance experience in a dynamic retail environment then keep reading!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately and efficiently process a high volume of supplier invoices
  • Perform weekly supplier statement reconciliations
  • Handle and resolve supplier queries promptly and professionally, these can be over phone, email or sometimes in face-to-face meetings with the businesses key suppliers.
  • Supporting the Accounts Payable Manager with preparing the payment runs on a weekly basis for the portion of the ledger you are looking after.
  • Keep Accounts Payable records up-to-date and well-organised
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the finance team to identify and implement process improvements
  • Provide additional support to the AP function during peak trading or busy periods

Candidate Attributes:

  • 12-18 months' experience in an Accounts Payable or Purchase Ledger role
  • Confident with invoice processing
  • Proficient with reconciliations
  • Competent with query resolutions
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability and a proactive mindset
  • Clear and effective communication skills
