Job Title: Commercial Electrician
Location: Derby
Salary: 38,000.00 - 46,000.00 per year
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
I am currently recruiting on behalf of a reputable and growing Fire and Security system company. for a qualified and experienced Commercial Electrician to join their team. This is a full-time, permanent position offering a competitive salary, company van, tools, and great benefits.
The role will primarily involve carrying out EICRs and PAT testing in public buildings but may also include a variety of electrical installations and maintenance tasks across both domestic and commercial environments including schools, offices, retail, and light industrial sites. Some travel and occasional overnight stays will be required (fully expensed by the company).
Key Responsibilities
- Complete EICRs, Minor Works, and Installation Certificates
- Perform Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)
- Conduct inspection and testing to the latest BS 7671 Wiring Regulations
- Diagnose and rectify electrical faults
- Install and maintain electrical systems including lighting, power, and heating
- Ensure work is compliant with safety and building regulations
- Liaise professionally with clients, contractors, and trades on site
- Keep accurate records of all work, materials, and time
- Follow all company Health & Safety procedures
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
- City & Guilds 2382-18 (18th Edition) - Essential
- City & Guilds 2391/2394/2395 (Inspection & Testing) - Essential
- City & Guilds 2377 (PAT Testing) - Desirable (or willing to work towards)
- ECS Gold Card or equivalent
- Full UK Driving Licence - Essential
- CSCS/ECS Card - Preferred

- Flexibility to travel and stay overnight as needed
Desirable Experience
- Installation of EV Chargers and renewable technologies (e.g., solar PV)
- Commercial project experience including new builds, refurbishments, and maintenance
- Knowledge of Fire Alarms, CCTV, or Security Systems
Salary and Benefits
- 38,000 - 46,000 per year (dependent on experience)
