Whereas many firms claim to be proud of their local connections, this broker really does 'walk the walk’ - not only has it had a presence locally for many years, it is a strategic partner of East Midlands Chamber, arranges the insurances of many of the region’s best-known firms, and its offices are even based in Derby County Cricket Ground’s Media and Business Centre!
On an impressive growth trajectory, this office has consistently delivered double-digit growth recently in terms of commission and fee income, and in recent years, has doubled its headcount. Following yet another successful year, and the acquisition of quality accounts, the need has arisen for several new members of staff to join the friendly and supportive Commercial Broking Unit. These include:
- An SME Account Handler or Broker to join the team as a Desk-Top Account Executive. Here, you will be responsible for running your own portfolio of cases (typically those generating less than £2,000 commission income) that do not have a client-facing Account Executive leading the account. As such, you will be 'the lead’ on this portfolio, responsible for the ongoing management of all clients - including overseeing the renewal process.
- Other roles include Commercial and Corporate Account Handlers. In these positions, you will be responsible for assisting Account Executives and Directors in the management of a portfolio of miscellaneous commercial / middle-market clients. Depending on your ambitions and experience, these could range in size and complexity, from £5,000 commission, through to corporate cases paying fees well in excess of £25,0000.
Depending on the role applied for, you will need an appropriate level of experience, including a sound basic knowledge of common commercial insurance covers. You should also be a team player, who enjoys working to shared goals and objectives. It is essential that you have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and are able to build strong rapport with stakeholders from all walks of life. You should also have excellent task-management skills, be well-organised, and have a keen eye for detail.
This firm is an employee-owned business, and really believes in looking after its people - it is rightly proud of its reputation for promoting from within. Many of the team have been with the business for a good number of years; some of most senior members having joined in much more junior capacities and 'risen through the ranks.’ Alongside opportunities for progression, and a generous basic salary, you will receive a wide selection of company benefits including support towards professional qualifications under the Charted Insurance Institute.Aston Charles - a personalised service from industry expertsGeneral Insurance and Financial Services RecruitmentFor more jobs like this, or for more information on how we may be able to help you in your search for a new job, please visit our website
