Gleeson Recruitment Group are thrilled to be working with an outstanding organisation based in the Derby area to recruit a highly capable Finance Manager.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and forward-thinking Finance Manager to take the reins of a small finance operations team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining strong financial processes, leading on month-end and year-end close, and cultivating a high-performance culture within the team.

We're looking for someone with a passion for mentoring and a sharp eye for process improvement- someone who understands how to balance the day-to-day responsibilities of finance with a wider strategic lens.

This role is hybrid working, with 3 days on site and 2 days from home.

Salary: Up to £60,000

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and inspire a team of three finance professionals, all currently pursuing finance qualifications. Provide mentoring, coaching, and day-to-day support to help them thrive.
  • Supervise daily financial operations across purchase ledger, sales ledger, and commission accounts, ensuring everything runs smoothly and accurately.
  • Take ownership of the month-end close process, including preparing timely management accounts in accordance with reporting schedules.
  • Maintain and review all balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring full accuracy and appropriate documentation at all times.
  • Act as a point of contact for external auditors, preparing audit-ready schedules and explanations to support year-end processes.
  • Identify areas for improvement within finance operations-then design and implement more efficient and robust processes.
  • Ensure internal financial controls are embedded, up-to-date, and functioning effectively.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to promote compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

What We're Looking For:

  • A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with hands-on experience in a similar finance leadership role.
  • A track record of working within a dynamic and fast-paced finance environment.
  • Prior experience managing and developing a small team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to improving processes.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (experience with tools like NetSuite is a plus) and strong Excel capability.
