Behaviour Mentor | Derby: DE1 | 440 - 475 Per Week (after deductions) | Long Term to Permanent | Start Date: ASAP

LTF Recruitment are working in partnership with an independent Alternative Provision school in Derby City centre that supports learners aged 14-16 who are preparing for their GCSEs. The school provides education outside of a mainstream setting for young people with high-functioning behavioural needs. They are seeking a Behaviour Mentor to work closely with students to encourage positive behaviour, build emotional regulation skills, and promote active engagement in learning. The successful candidate will collaborate with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to deliver tailored support strategies that help each learner build confidence, resilience, and the skills needed to succeed in their GCSE studies within a calm and nurturing environment.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group support to help students with behavioural and emotional regulation, focusing primarily on KS3 pupils.
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and SEN staff to implement and reinforce positive behaviour strategies across the school.
  • Use adaptive strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours, promoting engagement and learning progression.
  • Develop, monitor, and review individual behaviour support plans, liaising with pastoral leads, parents, and other professionals as needed.

Key Qualifications & Personal Attributes:

  • You must have an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Education, Psychology, Health and Social Care, SEN, Behaviour Support, or related field (desirable).
  • Naturally patient, resilient, and empathetic, with a calm, consistent approach.
  • Excellent communication & de-escalation skills. Confident liaising with senior leaders, therapists, parents, and external professionals.
