Your new companyYou will be joining an established Tier 1 contractor based in Derby operating within the highways industry. This multi-accredited and high-profile organisation is appointed on multiple major highways frameworks across the UK and has secured works on major projects, particularly in the East Anglian region. They deliver up to 100 highways schemes per month and, due to continued success, they are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

This is a full-time permanent position based in their Derby office (40 hours per week) with the option for hybrid and flexible working.

Your new roleAs Quantity Surveyor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Producing subcontract documentation including negotiation of terms and conditions, prices and programme
  • Managing subcontract work packages including interim assessments of the amount due and subsequent change management
  • Producing and issuing all commercial notices to both clients and subcontractors, as required by the form of contract
  • Managing change in a timely manner in accordance with the form of contract, including producing and submitting compensation event quotations
  • Producing, submitting and agreeing monthly applications to the client in accordance with the form of contract
  • Attending progress and risk reduction meetings with the client and subcontractors
  • Producing detailed monthly reports and cost value reconciliations as required
  • Interpreting and evaluating expenditure reports produced by internal cost systems
  • Producing and maintaining a detailed cost plan, tracking and forecasting expenditure, including detailed schedules of subcontractor liabilities.

What you'll need to succeedIn order to be successful, you must have:

  • Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalent
  • Experience quantity surveying within the civil engineering industry, ideally within the highways and/or local authority sectors
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC form of contract, ideally NEC4 (Options B and C)
  • Strong organisational, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Full UK driving licence.
