Teacher of Design and Technology - Full-Time | Secondary School - Derby | September 2025 Start

  • Daily Rate: £162.30 - £223.62 (dependent on experience and pay scale)

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a well-resourced and forward-thinking secondary school in Derby to recruit a creative and committed Teacher of Design and Technology (DT) to join their team on a full-time basis from September 2025. This is a long-term role for the academic year, with the potential to become permanent.

About the Role:

As a Teacher of Design and Technology, you will deliver engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring students in areas such as product design, resistant materials, graphics, or engineering (depending on your specialism). You'll have access to excellent facilities and work alongside a supportive team committed to practical, skills-based learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and teach creative, hands-on DT lessons that motivate and challenge learners

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and resource development within the DT department

  • Support student progress through effective assessment, feedback, and classroom management

  • Maintain a safe and productive workshop environment in line with health and safety regulations

  • Encourage innovation, problem-solving, and design thinking in all learners

Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Experience teaching Design and Technology at Key Stage 3 and 4

  • Specialism in product design, resistant materials, or related DT discipline

  • Strong classroom management skills and enthusiasm for practical teaching

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
