Long Term Futures are working with a specialist provision in the DE3 area of Derby, seeking two dedicated Teaching Assistants to join their team. The school caters for students aged 11-16 with a range of additional needs including autism, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and complex learning challenges.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who's calm, adaptable and committed to helping young people succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning within the classroom and during small group or 1:1 sessions.
  • Help students develop confidence, emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
  • Assist teachers in preparing and delivering engaging lessons and interventions.
  • Promote independence and inclusion, adapting support to meet individual needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and therapists to deliver effective support.
  • Contribute to tracking and recording pupil progress and wellbeing.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, SEMH or additional needs.
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach to behaviour management.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply - Long Term Futures can support with this).
