Belcan are looking for Senior Stress Engineers based in either Derby or Glasgow.

Are you a Stress Engineer passionate about ensuring the safety and performance of Gas Turbines and want to work on cutting-edge aeroengine technology?

Come and join Belcan as we are seeking two Stress Engineers to join our team, they will specialise in the structural integrity of rotating components within gas turbines. This role is critical in supporting the design and certification of high-performance rotative aeroengine parts under extreme operating conditions. This is for work on new Gas Turbine technology for future aeroengine platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed stress analysis (static, fatigue, creep, vibration) on rotatives such as discs, shafts, and blades.
  • Utilize FEA tools (ANSYS, ABAQUS) and classical hand calculations to validate designs.
  • Support lifing assessments and damage tolerance evaluations in compliance with FAR/EASA certification standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in design, materials, and manufacturing to optimize component performance.
  • Prepare and present technical documentation and stress reports for internal and external stakeholders, including airworthiness authorities.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, with a focus on rotating machinery.
  • Strong proficiency in FEA and fatigue/fracture mechanics.
  • Familiarity with aeroengine lifing methodologies and service experience data.
  • Experience with high-temperature materials and centrifugal stress analysis.
