Job Title: Refuse Collector

Location: Derby City Council, Derby

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM - 3:45 PM

Salary: £12.65 per hour

Job Summary:

Derby City Council is seeking dependable and hardworking individuals to join our Waste Management team as Refuse Collectors. You will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness of our city by collecting household and commercial waste, ensuring it is safely and efficiently disposed of or recycled.

Key Responsibilities:

- Collect household, recycling, and commercial waste from designated areas across Derby

- Work as part of a crew, following safe lifting techniques and operational procedures

- Assist with loading bins and bags onto collection vehicles

- Operate in a safe and respectful manner around members of the public

- Report any issues, such as damaged bins or obstructions, to supervisors

- Ensure timely and accurate completion of daily routes

- Adhere to health and safety guidelines at all times

Person Specification:

- Good level of physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

- Reliable with a strong work ethic and team spirit

- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety protocols

- Previous experience in waste collection or a similar manual role is advantageous but not essential
