Job Overview:
A Paint Prepper is responsible for preparing vehicles and parts for painting by performing various tasks to ensure a high-quality finish. This role involves sanding, masking, cleaning, and priming surfaces in accordance with industry standards and company specification.
You will have the opportunity to learn and/or improve your paint spraying skills with on the job training, and once you a competent you rate will increase to be in line with the paint sprayers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Surface Preparation
* Sanding and smoothing surfaces to be painted.
* Masking and taping areas not to be painted.
* Applying primers and sealers to surfaces.
* Inspecting surfaces for imperfections and ensuring proper preparation.
* Identifying and reporting any issues that could affect the paint finish.
* Ensuring all work meets quality standards.
* Operating and maintaining tools and equipment used in surface preparation.
* Mixing and preparing paint and other materials as needed.
* Safely handling hazardous materials and adhering to safety protocols.
* Working closely with painters and other team members to ensure seamless workflow.
* Communicating any issues or delays to Team Leaders.
* Keeping the work area clean and organized.
* Performing routine maintenance on equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
Person Specification:
* NVQ level 2 or equivalent is desirable but not essential
* Strong attention to detail.
* Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
* Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
* Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.
* Must be able to work alternating shifts
