Learning Support Assistant | Derby (DE1) | 100-115 per day | Long-Term Role | Starting 26th January 2026

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Derby (DE1). This role involves supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across a range of subjects, including Maths, English, Geography, and other core curriculum areas. This is a full-time, term-time only position, Monday to Friday, 8.30 - 15.30 with the opportunity to progress into a permanent role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the SENCO and Cover Supervisor to support students with a range of additional learning needs
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support across multiple subjects, including Maths, English, Geography, and more
  • Support students to access the curriculum by adapting resources and learning strategies where required
  • Encourage engagement, focus, and positive behaviour within the classroom
  • Assist students with coursework, organisation, and differentiation to help them reach their full potential
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Monitor student progress and feedback to teaching staff and the SEN team to adapt support strategies

Who We're Looking For:

  • Level 3 qualification minimum and essential
  • Experience working with SEN students, ideally within a secondary school setting
  • A patient, flexible, and nurturing approach to supporting young people
  • Confidence supporting learning across multiple subjects
  • Strong communication skills to work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and students
  • A clear commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
