Senior Residential Care PractitionerLocation: DerbySalary: Starting from £37,158.58 (with potential increase after successful 6-month probation)Hours: 56.5 hours per week (inclusive of sleep-in shifts), 3-week rolling rota
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Residential Care Practitioner to join our therapeutic residential home in Derby, supporting children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
About the Role:As a Senior Residential Care Practitioner, you will play a key role in providing high-quality care and support to young people, while leading and guiding a small staff team. This is a rewarding and dynamic position that involves direct care, team leadership, and contributing to the overall development of the home.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day care for children and young people in a safe, nurturing, and structured environment
- Lead, support, and supervise a team of residential staff
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and internal policies
- Drive young people to appointments, educational settings, social activities, and family contact visits
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a children’s residential care setting, or in a relevant transferable sector
- Hold or be working towards a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or Level 4 Children, Young People and Families Practitioner (Residential)
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, behaviour management, and trauma-informed care
Shift Pattern:
- 3-week rolling rota (average 10 shifts/month)
- Shifts: 08:00–23:00, followed by sleep-in and 08:00–08:30 handover
- Monthly average of 244.5 hours
